Review Highlights
I'm biased because I was married here, so I'll provide my objective analysis of the reviews here and later give you my take. Couples consistently praise the venue's extraordinary blend of historic charm and natural beauty, with one bride describing it as "an amazing 14th century private estate set in an aromatic avocado grove with ancient, ivy-covered buildings." The Spiridakis family, who own this working Mediterranean farm, receive glowing mentions for their warm hospitality and attention to detail. Guests are enchanted by the versatile spaces from the intimate old olive press for ceremonies to the expansive courtyard and grassy areas perfect for dancing under Cretan stars.
Ideal For
Ideal for couples that want a Venetian architectural gem as blank canvas they can adapt to their own needs. The venue has multiple spaces that can host welcome drinks, a ceremony, the indoor mill which can serve as rain back-up (up to 40 people), a large dance floor, lemon-fruit lined grass area for dining tables, and even a separate grassy area for children.
Planning Considerations
Metohi works from many practical angles. It's technically within Chania city limits so it's easy to get guests to the venue and ensure they're staying nearby. There's emergency rain cover in case of the rare rain in Crete for up to 40 guests. It was a great canvas for me since you can really adapt, decorate, and design the spaces as you please.
Christina's Take
The owner, Eleana, is warm, caring, and accommodating. Our wedding reception here was flawlessly executed thanks to all the detail and attention that everyone put in. It's a charming and historic space ideal for a rustic wedding. International guests were not only impressed by the venue but it's age, story, and how beautifully it's been preserved to serve continued purpose of bringing couples together. It combines a perfect balance between charm, logistics, customizability, and is on the more affordable side.
