After planning my own wedding in Crete, I spent more hours than I’ll admit researching who actually does great work on the Greek islands. This directory is what came out of it: photographers, videographers, and content creators I’d feel comfortable recommending to a friend.
A practical note that saves a lot of stress. Most of these vendors cover all of Greece, not just one island, so you’re choosing on style and fit rather than geography. And plenty offer photo and video as a combined package, which means one team, one contract, and no coordination gymnastics on the day.
I curate based on real couple reviews rather than awards. Some portfolios lean cinematic and editorial, others lean candid and documentary. Both have their place. What matters is the match with your wedding and how you want to feel when you look back.
How I Chose These Photographers, Videographers & Content Creators
Three things went into this directory: research, reviews, and my own biased eye.
The research took months. I pulled together every Greece wedding photographer, videographer, and content creator I could find across Google, Instagram, wedding blogs, and the industry directories that rank for these terms. Then I cut the list down hard. I read Google reviews line by line, not just star averages, because a 4.9 average with three reviews tells me very little but a 4.7 with two hundred detailed reviews tells me almost everything. I wanted to see how vendors handled the messy parts of a wedding day: a delayed ceremony, a difficult uncle, a cranky drone battery. The ones who stayed calm and professional when things got unpredictable made the shortlist.
Couple recommendations did the next round of filtering. When couples I’ve connected with through Big Fat Greek Day told me who they hired and how they felt about the experience a year later, once the adrenaline had worn off and they could judge the finished photos and films with a clear head, I paid close attention. Several vendors in this directory are here because three or four different couples independently recommended them to me in completely separate conversations. That kind of consistency is rare, and it’s worth surfacing.
Then there’s my own bias, which I’ll admit to openly. I favor vendors whose style feels honest over vendors whose style feels performed. I skip portfolios where every image looks lit by the same influencer ring light. I pay attention to how a videographer handles the quiet moments, not just the hero shot over the caldera. And I care about how couples are treated off-camera, because the best images in the world can’t make up for a bad experience on your wedding day. If a vendor didn’t pass all three filters, they’re not in this directory, regardless of how polished their marketing is.
